The Moroccan financial market
The Casablanca Stock Exchange was born on 7 November as the Office de Cotation
des Valeurs Mobilières. The Bourse has gone through three major reforms.
The first, in 1948, was the establishment of the Bourse as a legal person. The
second, in 1967, was its reorganisation as a public entity. Finally, in 1993, a
number of laws reformed the market and gave the Bourse the necessary regulatory
framework and technical means to become a truly modern stock market.
Important events since then have been:
September 1993
Creation of the market watchdog, the Conseil Déontologique des Valeurs
Mobilières (CDVM)
August 1995
Creation of the exchange company, the Société de la Bourse des Valeurs de
